"Sexy, tough, and deftly sprinkled with dark humor.”—New York Times bestselling author Larissa Ione

Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Wellington was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her trust in her fellow man had gone from shaky at best to nonexistent. Her mysterious rescuer wants to convince her he’s the exception. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel’s eyes and devil’s tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn’t trust him.

If the FBI were still around they would rate Raze Shadow as one of the bad guys. His military training can’t wipe out his association with the Mercenaries, the most feared gang in a thousand miles. His loyalties are compromised. He won’t even tell Vinnie his real name. But there’s no FBI in the new America of fear and firepower, only instinct and risk. And the way his arms wrap around her tells its own story. Whatever else Raze is concealing, he can’t hide his desire . . .

“Thrilling post-apocalyptic romance at its dark, sizzling best!” —Lara Adrian

  • Dystopian at its Best!

    By KPMe1
This book is the perfect follow up to the first Scorpius Syndrome book. It had just as much energy and excitement, just as much unlikely romance and lots of suspense! I love the whole concept, this is by far one of the best dystopian series I've read in a long time and there are no limits to where it can go. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Zanetti continues the fast paced plot of the Scorpius Syndrome in Shadow Falling. The dialogue was witty, the love scenes steamy without being cheesy, the plot enticing and imaginative, and the characters become more detailed and dimensional. Loved how Shadow Falling picked up seamlessly from where Mercury Striking, the 1st book, left off. Can't wait to find out what happens next in this new, post apocalyptic world Rebecca Zanetti has created with so much thought to detail and the human experience. Sure to become one of the best post apocalyptic series books in the world!
  • Kept me turning pages

I had not read the first in this series, but I will now. Characters interact from the previous story, but I did not feel lost in the story. All aspects are explained as this book unfolds. This story is mainly about Vinnie and Raze. Vinnie wants to find a purpose after surviving her torture. She is not intimidated easily, and Raze is intrigued. There are many adventures and dangers in this world they live in, and I loved how they worked their way to admitting love for each other. I look forward to the next installment, and I highly recommend this book. I received a copy of this story through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
  • Awesome!

I loved everything about this book! The story line and its twist and turns were exciting and nail biting. This is the second book in the series and I didn't think it could be better from the first one. The post apocalyptic world built in this story is believable and intelligent. The characters are strong and unique, weather they are adult or child. After the Scorpius bacteria hits the world nothing is as it was before. Death and destruction is all around. The fever will either kill you, turn you into a Ripper or change and enhance your former self, hopefully for the better. In this book we learn more a about Raze Shadow and the demons that chase him and why he's so drawn to Vivienne Wellington. The romance is hot, the suspense is high and the action is fast and furious. Ms. Zanetti has added new characters and I can not wait for the next book, "Justice Ascending".
  • Action packed!

This book reminded me a lot like the tv show The Walking Dead. I love that show, so this is a compliment for sure. A virus has spread that turns people in different ways. Some resemble Zombies, some return to almost normal with a boost to their system and then some turn into sociopaths. It kept the story line flowing and on the move constantly. I would recommend reading book one first. This is a continuous series that seem to focus on one couple but all the key players are just as much in this book that were in the first book. It ended with a HFN ending. I look forward to the next in the series because I not only enjoy the continuous evolving plot, but I love the super strong Alpha men the author creates. Plus, I'm intrigued to find out what this desease will develop in some of the characters. There's hints of extra physical and mental abilities that make this story that much more exciting. • nail biting, page turner

hadow Falling is the second installment in The Scorpius Syndrome series. After the devastation of the Scorpius virus has took its toll on world, the gangs, mercenaries and other groups battle for control of a block, a neighborhood and the country. Your life and wellbeing all lies within the group or alliances you make. If that wasn't bad enough psychotic, virus infected humans have taken over the ruling of North America. Even the president has his own plans for a future where he rules as a ruthless tyrant with lots of torture and blood shed. Raze Shadow, ex-military to mercenary, has joined LA community. He is accepted as one who will protect this community from harm but he has a secret agenda that might rip it apart. Vinnie is the best FBI out there. Rescued from the "tender mercies" of the President, Vinnie is happy to join the LA community. But she is a hot commodity and there is a lot of people out there that would love to get control of her ability…and Raze happens to be one of them. Vinnie might be the key to the missing bunker that can possibly solve the Scorpius issue. There is lots of sexual tension between Raze and Vinnie. But with lives hanging in the balance, sometimes chemistry is not enough. Strong solid plot with just as strong and solid characters, Zanetti does a magnificent job creating this post-apocalyptic world for us to devour. Shadow Falling was an absolute nail biting, page turner read that I highly enjoyed. I was left wanting more and looking forward to the next installment. I received this ARC copy of Shadow Falling from Kensington Books in exchange for a honest review.
